Outside Machinist / Millwright

Position Summary: Bay Ship & Yacht Co., located in Alameda, CA, is seeking to recruit Outside Machinists / Millwrights of varying levels of expertise. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone looking to grow their skills by working on a range of vessels and machinery. The position involves the installation and overhaul of shipboard machinery such as engines, generators, and shafts, and requires a full spectrum of mechanical skills for the construction and repair of various marine vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the installation, overhaul, removal, repair, and alignment of shipboard machinery and systems.
• Work on propellers, shafts, bearings, engines, generators, and anchor windlasses.
• Interpret and follow directions and handle emergencies and cooperative work assignments effectively.

Qualifications:

• Experience as a shop machinist or shipboard operating engineer is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of written and verbal English for safety and efficiency.
• Aptitude for training and adapting to new work methods.

Physical Demands:

• Applicants must be capable of handling physical requirements associated with ship machinery installation and repair.
