Job Description

Position Summary: Bay Ship & Yacht Co. in Alameda, CA, is looking for experienced Marine Electricians who excel in shipboard electrical systems and equipment. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive and independent work ethic to tackle tasks in a dynamic shipyard environment. This role is perfect for those who appreciate the outdoor setting of the waterfront, handling both day-to-day activities and challenging projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical system tasks on marine vessels with minimal supervision.
  • Utilize expertise in high voltage and 480/208 VAC three-phase systems.
  • Skilfully operate test equipment including Meggers, VOMs, and Amp-meters.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install motors and motor controls efficiently.
  • Conduct operational testing of electrical equipment.
  • Understand and interpret schematic diagrams, technical manuals, and create hand-drawn diagrams as needed.

Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of marine or industrial electrical experience is required.
  • Demonstrated skills in handling high voltage systems.
  • Proficient in testing and troubleshooting various electrical components and systems.
  • Ability to comprehend complex instructions, diagrams, and manuals.

Physical Demands:

  • Be comfortable working in an outdoor shipyard environment, capable of physical activities associated with marine electrical tasks and equipment handling.
