Job Description

Position Summary: Bay Ship & Yacht, based in Alameda, CA on the waterfront of San Francisco Bay, is looking for a Drydocking Specialist (Drydockman). The role entails drydocking ships, barges, and boats using ballast pumps or electric winches, constructing the blocking cradle, and aligning docking plans. The job offers career growth, training for mariners, and the opportunity to work on a variety of marine vessels, making every project challenging and entertaining.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build blocking cradles based on prepared docking plans for ship drydocking.
  • Operate ballast pumps or electric winches to dock and lift vessels from water.
  • Learn the Drydockman trade, if not already experienced.
  • Actively engage in the company's career development and training programs.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in line handling and mooring of vessels is preferred, with the ability to learn the Drydockman role.
  • Must begin as a helper/laborer for consideration of trade training and advancement.
  • Ability to work within compliance regulations.
  • Local residence within the SF Bay Area is required; no relocation offered for this position.

Physical Demands: Work involves physical activities on ships and drydocks, adherence to safety protocols, and meeting the physical requirements of the role.
