Temp Services Electrician

Position Summary: General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego, CA, is hiring a Temp Services Electrician responsible for electrical repairs, maintenance, installation, and removal of temporary service equipment on ships and within the yard. The ideal candidate will have electrical repair experience, be familiar with schematic troubleshooting, and understand lockout/tag-out procedures and electrical safety protection equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect and manage the setup and removal of temporary service equipment.
• Service and repair equipment using designated tools and test equipment.
• Document maintenance activities and service requests.
• Set up, test, and manage temporary services hardware like blowers, power panels, and ventilation.
• Inspect and set up public address systems and alarm systems.
• Interface with various departments to provide required services and participate in company programs.

Qualifications:

• Trade school certificate in electrical training or relevant work experience.
• Two years of marine electrical experience or four years of general electrical experience.
• Ability to pass assessments or partake in a training program.
• Comprehension of written and verbal instructions in English and familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and meters.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Work involves working in all areas of the shipyard, often in varying climates with exposure to fumes, dust, and loud noise.
• Physical tasks include repetitive walking, climbing, handling, and lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted.
• Continuous awareness of safety signals and instructions is required.
