Job Description

Position Summary: General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego, CA, seeks an Administrative Assistant to join the Electrical Engineering department. The Administrative Assistant will carry out secretarial and administrative support duties according to established procedures and practices. The role involves data input, analysis, and administrative tasks such as managing office supplies, answering phone lines, and handling mail and filing needs. This position reports to the Department Manager and requires internal communication with all NASSCO departments and external engagement with suppliers and customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage general administrative tasks such as office supply inventory, equipment handling, answering phone lines, and overseeing mail and correspondence.
  • Perform data analysis, entry, and support departmental functions.
  • Prepare agendas, reports, presentations, and coordinate department schedules and activities.
  • Adhere to and promote NASSCO's health, safety, and environmental policies.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate with at least five years of experience in general office functions and procedures.
  • Knowledge of data management and processing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and other relevant software applications.
  • Excellent typing and keyboard skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Predominantly office setting with good lighting.
  • Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focusing ability.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands for typing and operating a computer keyboard, and engage in verbal and written communication.
  • Must be physically able to navigate throughout the shipyard as needed.
  • May occasionally be exposed to dust, fumes, and moderate noise levels.

Reporting: Reports directly to the Department Manager.
