Position Summary: General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego, CA, is looking for a WAF/Tag Coordinator - Repair. The coordinator will be responsible for creating Work Authorization Forms (WAFs) using the eWAFS system for work control and managing the tag-out process for ship equipment. The position requires coordinating daily tasks and ensuring that the tagging process adheres to all relevant standards and regulations. This role is pivotal in supporting production processes and managing multiple logistics aspects of repair projects while acting as a liaison with various departments, subcontractors, and ship's force.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure WAF/Tag Out employees have minimum certification prior to performing work.
  • Verify tag outs are compliant with technical documentation and the Navy Engineering Operational Sequencing System (EOSS).
  • Complete and submit WAFs for each repair task.
  • Manage ship-wide safety, coordinate logistics planning and execution for assigned areas.
  • Identify problems, participate in quality and process improvement, and initiate corrective action.
  • Coordinate material and equipment protection and monitor trade activities.
  • Address trade and subcontractor conflicts and administer NAVSEA Standard Items.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent, with knowledge of trades, ship systems, and shipbuilding practices.
  • Preferred: Two years of shipbuilding, repair, or manufacturing environment experience.
  • Strong communication, reporting, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), ESOMS, eWAFS, and strong computer skills.
  • Familiarity with Tag-Out User's Manual and electrical/mechanical isolation requirements.
  • Must pass a security background check and obtain naval base access.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to transit shipyard areas, including shipboard activities, ladders, tight spaces, and uneven surfaces.
  • Capable of working at heights and in various outdoor and noisy shipyard environments.

Reporting: Reports to the Ship Manager and maintains communications with other departments as required.
