Welder 1st Class

Position Summary:
General Dynamics NASSCO is seeking a highly skilled Welder 1st Class responsible for performing a variety of welding tasks in accordance with work specifications, ensuring the highest quality and safety standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute welding duties safely and professionally, conforming to specifications and industry standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and work orders for welding or metal cutting.
• Achieve specified weld standards using appropriate welding equipment and materials.
• Pass required welding tests, including TIG on stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years of welding experience, including NAVSEA-related experience.
• Proficiency in various welding techniques, understanding weld symbols, and general drawings.
• Ability to pass multiple welding qualifications, including FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW processes on various materials.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, shipboard spaces, and welding equipment.

Physical Demands:

• Requires frequent carrying, lifting, walking, and climbing, with the ability to work on vessels.
• Must meet visual standards including the ability to differentiate colors and adjust focus.

Working Relationships:

• Maintains good working relationships with other welders and supports teamwork in pursuit of company goals.
