Position Summary:
Eastern Shipbuilding is looking for an experienced Pipefitter 1/C to join their team in Panama City, FL. The main responsibilities of this role involve assembling, installing, and testing piping systems for various applications. The ideal candidate will work well with other crafts as directed by supervision and adhere to the company's safety policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Select appropriate types and sizes of pipes, fittings, and valves based on project specifications.
- Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading and assemble them per the given instructions.
- Bend pipes accurately according to project specifications.
- Install and test the operation of high-pressure steel pipes and fittings.
- Fabricate and install metal fittings, support structures, and control equipment.
- Conduct testing on installed piping systems and ensure installations align with associated plans and specifications.
- Use hand signals to safely rig and flag cranes for the transportation of pipes to desired locations.
- Execute final hook-ups of systems for commissioning with minimal supervision and perform other assigned duties.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and three to five years of pipefitting or plumbing experience.
- Working knowledge of standard pipe craft formulas, materials, and drawings.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, blueprints, and effectively present information to supervisors and employees.
- Knowledge of welding, ship terminology, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Must pass an SMAW Tack welding test for ABS certification.
Physical Demands:
- Active position requiring communication skills, frequent standing, walking, bending, and the ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Medically qualified to wear all OSHA prescribed personal protective equipment.
- Capable of working at significant heights and within confined spaces in varying climate conditions.
Work Environment:
- May encounter risks including electrical shock, moving parts, vibration, and loud noises in a shipyard environment.
- Must adhere to strict safety procedures and personal safety equipment requirements.
