Job Description

Position Summary:
Eastern Shipbuilding is seeking a qualified Pipe Welder 1/C with expertise in TIG welding of stainless steel, CUNI, aluminum, and carbon steel in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. The position entails regular compliance with company, federal, state, and local safety, ethics, and environmental rules, regular attendance, and the flexibility to work hours that include overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and prepare for welding tasks by studying layouts, blueprints, diagrams, or work orders.
  • Complete welds using a variety of methods and materials to meet specified standards.
  • Install, verify, and repair high-pressure steel pipes and fittings, as well as other control equipment.
  • Apply appropriate techniques for measuring, cutting, assembling, and welding pipes and other similar products.
  • Test and ensure installed piping systems meet project specifications.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment and execute duties with minimal supervision.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED, with three to five years of extensive pipe welding experience. Additional education and experience could be considered.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints and diagrams as well as detailed welding symbols, ship terminology, and OSHA and ABS standards.
  • Successfully pass a 6G Pipe Test for ABS certification.

Physical Demands:

  • Active role requiring communication, standing, walking, bending, and frequent lifting/movement of up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be medically fit to wear all necessary personal protective equipment in various work settings, including heights and confined spaces.

Work Environment:

  • The role may involve exposure to risks such as electrical shock, moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, and loud noise. Compliance with all safety procedures and equipment use is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • The role may entail indirect supervision and/or training of subordinates.
