Job Description

Position Summary:
Eastern Shipbuilding is seeking an experienced TIG Pipe Welder 1/C to plan, layout, weld, install, test, and repair various types of pipes and tubular products following design plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. This full-time role emphasizes adherence to safety, ethics, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with company and regulatory safety policies while performing duties and maintaining regular attendance with flexible working hours.
  • Review and interpret layouts, blueprints, and diagrams for welding or cutting metal components.
  • Complete welds to specified standards using appropriate welding equipment and materials.
  • Install and verify the operation of high-pressure piping systems and related equipment.
  • Repair and replace damaged pipes, fabricate metal fittings, and secure parts for welding.
  • Test installed piping systems and ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and produce high-quality welds on various materials with minimal supervision.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with 3-5 years of relevant pipe welding experience.
  • Knowledge of ship terminology, welding symbols, OSHA standards, and ABS regulations.
  • Ability to pass an SMAW 6G Pipe Test for ABS certification.
  • Proficiency in hand and power tools, blueprint reading, and mathematical calculations.

Physical Demands:

  • Very active role that requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting/movement of up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be medically qualified to wear all necessary PPE and able to work in confined spaces or at heights.

Work Environment:

  • Potential exposure to electrical shocks, moving parts, vibrations, fumes, and loud noises in an industrial shipyard setting.
  • Mandatory compliance with safety procedures, policies, and personal safety equipment requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • May include indirect supervision and/or training of subordinates.
