Job Description

Position Summary:
Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. is currently hiring a skilled Electrical Fitter 1/C responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining, and servicing electrical equipment and fittings on marine vessels in compliance with various safety and regulatory standards. The role involves flexible hours which may include overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regularly update and maintain installation and repair records.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical equipment such as motor starters, controllers, and switchgears.
  • Carry out mechanical fitting and assembling works related to heavy current equipment and fabricate parts as needed.
  • Perform installations according to specifications, including meters, instruments, relays, and protection equipment.
  • Work independently while adhering to company, federal, state, local, OSHA, and ABS safety and environmental regulations.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent with 3-5 years of experience as an electrical fitter in a shipyard environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and comprehending blueprints, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
  • Knowledge in safe operation and use of hand and power tools, as well as lock-out/tag-out procedures.

Physical Demands:

  • Active role requiring constant communication, standing, walking, and the frequent lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be medically fit to wear personal protective equipment as mandated by OSHA.

Work Environment:

  • A heavy industrial shipyard environment with exposure to electrical shock risks, moving mechanical parts, and potentially extreme temperatures.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and equipment use is essential.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • May indirectly supervise and train subordinates as needed.
