Position Summary: Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. is seeking an HM&E Test Lead (MPCMS), responsible for coordinating tests and validations on the Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC) program. This role demands expertise in overseeing a comprehensive ship test program, including the development of test processes, procedures, reports, and addressing any test and QA deficiencies during construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support HM&E Test Manager in the execution of the test program, developing processes and procedures for systems areas and interfaces to other Shipboard Systems, including Controls.
- Act as Test Lead, guiding production teams through check-out, grooming, and operation of assigned systems, and demonstrating proper equipment operation during trials.
- Manage corrective actions for trial cards, deficiencies in test and QA, and correcting them in hulls under construction.
- Facilitate production, test, launch, and trials Readiness Reviews within the assigned area.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Project Management to ensure adherence to the shipyard testing strategy.
- Support Test Manager during pre and post Sea Trials and de-conflict competing priorities to meet financial and schedule specifications.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly and/or indirectly supervise HM&E Team members and contractors. Some local and occasional out-of-area overnight travel may be required.
Requirements/ Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, with 5+ years of experience in shipboard testing, developing procedures, and experience in commercial or government contracts in shipbuilding preferred.
- Knowledgeable in ABS NVR test procedure development and experience with integration of a test program into an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with web-based design and collaboration tools.
- Strong communication skills, the ability to interpret contract requirements into a comprehensive test program, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
Physical Activity/Requirements:
- Operate in office and shipboard environments, including climbing and entering confined spaces in various weather conditions.
- Must have the physical capability to work in a ship production environment and meet vision requirements.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to environments with electrical shock risks and a low to moderate noise level, such as office settings.
- Compliance with safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements is mandatory.
