X Ray Welder 1/C

Position Summary:
Eastern Shipbuilding is seeking a skilled X Ray Welder 1/C to lay out, fit, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble various structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, and similar products in adherence to specifications. This role involves working flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays, and complying with company, federal, state, and local safety, ethics, and environmental rules.

Key Responsibilities:

• Select equipment and plan welding layout, assembly, and processes.
• Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions at a consistently high proficiency rate.
• Fit, tack, and weld parts in position, examining welds to ensure adherence to specifications.
• Utilize precision measuring instruments to inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances.
• Produce high-quality welds on various materials with minimal supervision.
• Perform carbon air arc cutting when needed and comply with all quality, safety, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or GED with 1-3 years of flux core arc welding experience desirable.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and fitting and welding techniques.
• Ability to interpret weld symbols, read blueprints, and work according to OSHA and ABS regulations.
• Must pass welding tests for ABS certification.

Physical Requirements:

• Active work requiring communication, standing, walking, bending, and the frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work above ground at heights and in confined spaces under various temperature conditions.

Work Environment:

• Exposure to the risk of electrical shock, moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and loud noise.
• Compliance with rigorous safety, policies, and the use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• May indirectly supervise and train subordinates in performing similar tasks.
