Carpenter 1/C Apply

Position Summary:
Eastern Shipbuilding is seeking a skilled Carpenter 1/C capable of cutting, fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing wood structures and furnishings within marine vessels. The successful candidate will be responsible for various construction and carpentry tasks adhering to company safety, ethics, and environmental policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Construct, assemble, and install floors, doors, partitions, and other wooden structures using woodworking machines, hand tools, and power tools.
• Transfer dimensions and measurements onto materials, shape and laminate wood parts, and preconstruct wooden forms or parts.
• Install ladders, handrails, sound dampening materials, perform vessel blocking, and ensure proper layout and alignment according to specifications.
• Accountable for daily work assignments, including rigging and flagging cranes for material movement.
• Work under minimal supervision and tackle other duties as required to support shipbuilding operations.

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or GED with 3-5 years of carpentry experience, preferred in a shipyard environment.
• Proficiency in understanding and utilizing blueprints, knowledge of shipbuilding processes, and safety standards.
• Competence in the safe operation of hand and power tools and the ability to measure accurately and perform calculations.

Physical Requirements:

• Active work requiring frequent communication, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and be medically fit to wear all prescribed personal protective equipment.

Work Environment:

• Exposure to electrical shock risks, moving parts, vibration, fumes, toxic chemicals, and loud noise in an industrial shipyard.
• Compliance with strict company safety procedures and standards is essential for this full-time role.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• May have indirect supervisory duties over training and guiding subordinates.
