Job Description

Position Summary:
Eastern Shipbuilding is seeking a qualified Press Brake Operator 1/C to manage the setup and operation of Press Brakes, ensuring conformation to specifications and adherence to safety standards. The role involves precision work with metal components, aligning machine controls and tools, and maintaining strict compliance with safety, environmental, and operational policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate Press Brakes with minimal downtime and coordinate with the production schedule.
  • Test and adjust machine settings to achieve desired results, ensuring product specifications and quality standards are met.
  • Utilize measuring instruments and tools to verify precision in alignment and dimensions.
  • Manage work pieces for processing by setting, aligning, and adjusting controls and equipment.
  • Examine finished work pieces for conformance to quality standards and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate records related to production quantities, times, and processes.
  • Prepare materials for shipment and perform setups and tool changes as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of three years of experience operating Press Brake machines.
  • Technical capability to read and convert measurements in both English and Metric systems and interpret technical drawings.
  • At least one year of experience as a Press Brake machine operator and operating overhead cranes.
  • Strong knowledge of ship terminology, safety protocols, and OSHA regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Active role requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing.
  • Regularly required to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds and perform tasks with dexterity and focus.
  • Must be physically qualified to wear all prescribed personal protective equipment as dictated by OSHA standards.

Work Environment:

  • Work may include exposure to risks such as electrical shock, mechanical hazards, and extreme temperatures.
  • Must be able to work in varying conditions at significant heights and in confined spaces.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • May have indirect supervisory and training responsibilities for subordinates.
