Job Description

Position Summary:
Eastern Shipbuilding is looking for a Pipefitter 1/C to assemble, install, and test piping systems in accordance with project specifications and industry standards. This crucial role requires hands-on skills in pipefitting within a shipyard environment and dedication to upholding company safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Select and prepare pipe, fittings, and valves per project requirements.
  • Measure, mark, and assemble piping accurately, following technical specifications.
  • Bend and install pipes, repair damaged systems, and rig cranes using hand signals.
  • Conduct tests on installed piping systems and ensure final hook-ups for commissioning.
  • Work collaboratively with other crafts and perform duties with minimal supervision.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED, with 3-5 years of pipefitting/plumbing experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of pipe craft formulas, materials, drawings, and welding techniques.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, diagrams, and the safe operation of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to perform SMAW Tack welding tests for ABS certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be qualified to wear all necessary personal protective equipment and work at heights or in confined spaces.

Work Environment:

  • Active work environment that may involve exposure to electrical shocks, mechanical parts, and other hazards in a shipyard setting.
  • Commitment to safety procedures and policies is necessary for this full-time position.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • May indirectly supervise and/or train subordinates as needed.
