Pipe Welder 1/C

Position Summary:
Eastern Shipbuilding is seeking a skilled Pipe Welder 1/C capable of planning, laying out, and executing welds on various types of pipes and tubular products according to project specifications and industry standards. This full-time position requires proficiency in pipe welding techniques, knowledge of equipment and work processes, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review blueprints and prepare for welding or cutting metal components.
• Perform high-quality welds, following specified standards using appropriate equipment and materials.
• Test and verify the operation of welded steel pipes and fittings.
• Install, repair, and replace damaged piping using appropriate methods and equipment.
• Conduct troubleshooting of piping systems and diagnose issues effectively.
• Ensure all necessary welding inspection tasks are completed to specification.
• Use hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble, and properly weld pipes and similar products.

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or GED, with three to five years of pipe welding experience, preferred.
• X-ray pipe welding experience and the ability to weld in various positions, including mirror welding.
• Familiarity with welding symbols, ship terminology, OSHA, and ABS standards.
• Proficiency in mathematics and the ability to effectively use hand and power tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with supervisors and team members.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, and crawl throughout the workday.
• Must frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds and be qualified to wear all prescribed personal protective equipment.
• Capable of working at heights, within confined spaces, and in variances of temperature.

Work Environment:

• The position may require flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Exposure to electrical risks, mechanical parts, fumes, particles, toxic chemicals, and loud noise within an industrial shipyard setting.
• Compliance with strict safety procedures and equipment use is mandatory.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• May indirectly supervise and/or train subordinates, as required.
