Position Summary:
The OSV Engineer role at Curtin Maritime is an integral part of the vessel's technical and mechanical operations, ensuring safe and efficient performance in line with the company's core values. The positions, ranging from QMED Oiler to Chief Engineer, demand expertise in maintaining the Curtin Standard onboard and offer growth opportunities for those with strong leadership and engineering skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain vessel systems, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical components.
  • Ensure proactive planning and readiness for all engineering operations of the vessel.
  • Carry out maintenance to the Curtin Standard, including the engine room and Z-Drive experience.
  • Troubleshoot and repair vessel equipment and perform heavy repairs such as engine overhauls as necessary.
  • Lead and train Assistant Engineers and Deckhands, providing critical feedback and creating standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and engage in thorough VMS utilization, compliance efforts, and internal and external audits.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Required credentials vary based on role, with preference for DDE 4000, OICEW, and STCW certifications applicable to specific positions.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in marine engineering or a similar role with hands-on mechanical skills.
  • Proficient in commissioning new vessels, welding, and other repair works.
  • Superior communication skills and the ability to manage projects independently.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to traverse uneven ground, lift heavy objects, and work in confined spaces.
  • Must pass fit-for-duty requirements, including pre-employment physical and drug tests.

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid work schedule involving significant travel to various project sites.
  • The full-time position includes rotational work, often necessitating long hours and weekend commitment.

Reporting:

  • Reports directly to the Port Engineer and collaborates with the Vessel Captain.

Compensation:
Competitive salary based on position and experience, ranging from $450/day for QMED Oiler to $700 - $875/day for Chief Engineer, including benefits such as medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and a 401(k) with company match.
