Job Description

Position Summary:
The Project Engineer is an integral role at Curtin Maritime, leading the production and survey within dredging projects and contributing technical expertise to the operations team. This role encompasses managing survey assets, developing dig strategies, and ensuring technical survey aspects meet the project and customer requirements. The Project Engineer assists the Project Manager by providing comprehensive administrative and operational support for dredging project job sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all survey assets and calibrations for project success.
  • Collaborate with project management to create effective dig strategies based on survey data.
  • Handle daily survey-related deliverables and assist in the development of engineering processes.
  • Define and document project requirements, working closely with the purchasing department for project-specific needs.
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure project progression complies with regulations and client expectations.
  • Act as a mentor to Project Engineers and Field Engineers, providing necessary training and guidance.
  • Serve as a key member in client meetings, manage project documentation, and execute responsibilities as a stand-in Project Manager when necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management (preferred).
  • 1+ years of experience in dredging as a Project Engineer or a similar role.
  • Proficiency with project scheduling software (Primavera P6) and experience with OSHA regulations.
  • Strong understanding of pump dynamics, pipeline routes, and booster placements.
  • Capability in setting up and deploying dredging and survey equipment as well as analyzing geotechnical data.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a strong aptitude for negotiation both verbally and in writing.
  • Computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Hypack, or other survey software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate small marine vessels and carry out physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel and spend extended time onboard vessels, sometimes under challenging conditions.

Additional Requirements:

  • Rotational schedule of 2 weeks on/2 weeks off, with availability for travel to project sites or the Long Beach yard.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean record and a valid TWIC card.

Work Environment:

  • Opportunity for remote or hybrid work arrangements based out of Jacksonville, Florida.

Reporting:

  • Reports to the Director of DEPTH, Project Manager, or Operations Team.

Location:
Nationwide (Remote/Hybrid based in Jacksonville, Florida)
