Position Summary:
The Field Engineer (Survey) at Curtin Maritime is an essential part of the marine construction team, focusing on survey activities within various projects nationwide. This position entails managing a survey team, overseeing assets, developing project plans with management, and utilizing survey data to facilitate and optimize daily dredging plans. The role is geared towards innovative individuals who demonstrate efficiency, integrity, and have a high level of accountability and pride in their work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the survey team and manage survey assets, including boats, trailers, and sonar equipment.
  • Develop and implement project plans in coordination with project management.
  • Collect, process, and interpret survey data to support operational planning and reporting.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients on all survey-related matters.
  • Provide the bidding team with production data gleaned from surveys to inform future project estimates.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least 1+ years of experience in Survey, ideally hydrographic.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel, and familiarity with survey software such as AutoCAD and Hypack.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to manage projects efficiently.
  • Demonstrated leadership and innovative problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, maintaining professionalism in various work settings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management (preferred).
  • U.S. Passport and valid TWIC card (or ability to obtain them).
  • Knowledge of RMS 3.0, MS Project, or Primavera P6 (preferred).
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification (desirable).

Physical Requirements:

  • Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
  • Ability to navigate uneven surfaces, confined spaces, ladders, and stairs.
  • Capacity to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted and have adequate vision and hearing abilities.

Work Environment:

  • Willingness to adopt a 28/14 or 14/7 rotating schedule with travel required to project sites.
  • Perform tasks both in an office environment and onboard vessels.

Reporting:

  • Supports and collaborates with the Marine Transportation department.

Nationwide (Remote possible with home base in Wilmington, North Carolina)
