Position Summary:
The Dredge Project Estimator is a fundamental component of Curtin Maritime’s growth and success within the marine construction and dredging industry. This role involves formulating competitive, accurate bids by evaluating project documents, defining project scopes, calculating estimates, and ensuring alignment with the company's operational capabilities and core values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze RFPs and project documents to ascertain project requirements and scope.
- Calculate quantities, production rates, and costs for various project components including labor, materials, and equipment, with a focus on dredge volumes and production efficiencies.
- Manage cost data, assess risks, seek value engineering options, and contribute to proposal documents.
- Engage in client interactions during pre-bid meetings and site visits to fortify relationships and understand field conditions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to hone bids for finalization and presentation to the execution team upon project award.
- Explore and advocate for innovative construction methods and technologies to advance bid accuracy and competitiveness.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a relevant field is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating or preconstruction, specifically within marine or heavy civil construction environments. Dredging experience is highly valuable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with survey and production estimation software like AutoCAD and HYPACK.
- Keen analytical abilities with strong attention to detail, especially regarding technical documents and survey data interpretation.
- Understanding of dredging logistics, including equipment, pump dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, adept at working collaboratively and preparing professional proposals.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and TWIC card, with readiness to travel to project sites and meet physical demands.
