Position Summary: The QA/QC Manager is a key figure in upholding the integrity and excellence of shipyard projects. This management role involves leading a team of inspectors to consistently ensure that all projects meet the highest quality standards. The position's scope includes rigorous inspection routines, verification of compliance with regulatory requirements, and direct involvement in testing and certification processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of QA/QC inspectors dedicated to maintaining quality standards across all shipyard projects.
- Perform visual inspections of welds, and ensure the proper fit-up of fabricated modules in line with project blueprints and specifications.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, including those set by the US Coast Guard (USCG) and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
- Conduct testing procedures such as air and hydrostatic tests on various components.
- Facilitate third-party non-destructive testing (NDI) processes and verify the certification of welding equipment and tools.
- Administer company quality control procedures, manage the audit process, and handle Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Engage with regulatory bodies and customer representatives to affirm that fabrication, testing, and commissioning activities comply with all relevant standards and specifications.
Qualifications:
- Considerable experience in quality assurance/quality control within a marine or industrial setting.
- In-depth knowledge of welding and fabrication standards and the relevant regulatory requirements.
- Experience in leading teams, conducting audits, and interfacing with third-party inspectors and clients.
- Certification in quality management or a related field, with a keen understanding of industry best practices for QA/QC.
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented mindset, and effective communication abilities.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Predominantly field-based with on-site work in shipyard project areas, with some office work for administrative responsibilities.
- Capable of moving throughout large shipyard facilities, including accessing various project sites for inspection purposes.
- Prepared to wear personal protective equipment and adhere to all safety regulations pertinent to the work environment.
Reporting:
- Directly reports to the Shipyard Operations Manager or the Head of Quality Assurance.
