Job Description

Position Summary: The Stockroom Clerk is fundamental in the seamless operation of the shipyard, as they are tasked with the meticulous organization of the tool room and tool inventory management. This hands-on role involves the efficient distribution of tools and the prompt fulfillment of pickup requests to ensure that all shipyard personnel have the equipment they need for their respective tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the organization and maintenance of the tool room and inventory system.
  • Issue tools and equipment to workers, tracking distribution and ensuring timely return.
  • Arrange for the collection (pickup) of tools and supplies as required for shipyard operations.
  • Monitor the condition of tools and manage repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Conduct inventory audits and reorder stock to maintain optimal supply levels.
  • Implement inventory control procedures and maintain accurate records for tool allocations.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma is required; further education or certification in inventory management is a plus.
  • Experience working in stockroom operations, preferably within an industrial or maritime environment.
  • Familiarity with tool room organization strategies and tracking systems.
  • Competence in using inventory management software and basic data entry tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and coordinate with various departments within the shipyard.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Operating primarily within the on-site tool room and stock areas.
  • A role that demands frequent standing, walking, and lifting of objects up to a certain weight.
  • Use of safety equipment and adherence to shipyard safety procedures is compulsory.

Reporting:

  • Reports to the Operations Manager or Inventory Control Supervisor.
