Job Description

Position Summary: The Maintenance Electrician plays a critical role in safeguarding the continuous operation of the facility by installing, maintaining, and repairing various electrical systems and equipment. The role centers on ensuring that these systems function without failure by performing routine inspections and troubleshooting, all while adhering to stringent safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install new electrical systems and conduct maintenance and repairs on existing systems to maintain operational integrity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues promptly, preventing potential system failures.
  • Carry out regular inspections of electrical equipment to preemptively identify and rectify problems.
  • Ensure all electrical work is completed in compliance with safety regulations and codes.
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, system performance, and repairs performed.

Qualifications:

  • Certification or degree in electrical engineering or a related trade, along with a valid electrician license.
  • Substantial experience in the field of electrical maintenance, preferably within an industrial or marine setting.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and schematics.
  • Knowledge of the latest electrical regulations and safety standards.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and fix electrical problems efficiently.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Working both indoors and outdoors within the shipyard or a similar industrial facility.
  • Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting equipment, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
  • Preparedness for occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions during outdoor assignments.

Reporting:

  • Typically reports to the Electrical Department Head or Maintenance Supervisor.
