Job Description

Position Summary: The Industrial Engineer is essential for enhancing the shipyard's productivity by optimizing processes to increase efficiency, lower costs, and bolster the quality of output. A strong focus on worker safety is at the forefront of responsibilities, with the engineer working to identify and mitigate risks through thorough analysis, teamwork, and proactive change implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze existing production processes to identify areas for enhancement in both time and cost efficiency.
  • Employ benchmarking and best practices to establish standards for operation and output quality.
  • Facilitate brainstorming sessions and team-based problem-solving to foster innovation and process improvements.
  • Develop and execute plans aimed at eliminating hazardous conditions, thus improving safety in the workplace.
  • Coordinate with various departments to implement changes and measure the impact on production and workforce well-being.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in industrial engineering within a manufacturing or marine setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze workflows and implement effective solutions.
  • Skillful in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis software and process mapping tools.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Office and shipyard environments, requiring adaptability to both settings.
  • Ability to manage desk-based analytical tasks and on-site evaluations, sometimes in noisy or active areas.
  • Willingness to adhere to safety regulations while engaging with teams in various departments.

Reporting:

  • Reports directly to the Operations Manager or Head of Engineering.
