Job Description

Position Summary: An Automatic Welder at the shipyard will be an essential member of the welding team, using advanced machinery such as Sub Arc, Bug-O systems, and Quick-E welding tools to enhance and expedite the welding process, ensuring high-quality results in our shipbuilding endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate automated welding equipment, including Submerged Arc Welding (SAW), Bug-O systems, and Quick-E welding tools.
  • Monitor the automatic welding processes to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on automated welding machinery.
  • Collaborate with welding supervisors and engineers to optimize welding procedures.
  • Keep records of welding specifications, maintenance, and work performed.
  • Follow safety protocols for operation of automated equipment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; welding certification or relevant technical training highly valued.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating automatic welding equipment in a professional environment.
  • Knowledgeable in automated welding processes and best practice techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding process specifications.
  • Skilled in the maintenance and troubleshooting of welding machinery.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality control.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Shipyard setting, requiring work both indoors and outdoors, often in industrial environments.
  • Ability to work in various physical positions, including standing, kneeling, and bending, as well as lifting heavy equipment.
  • Awareness of and adherence to safety procedures related to the operation of automated machinery.

Reporting:

  • The Automatic Welder will report to the Welding Supervisor or Workshop Manager.
