Job Overview
  • The installation of electrical and mechanical components on various vessel types.
  • Installs outboard motors or inboard diesel engines and jet drives, along with associated cables and wiring
  • Installs fuel systems and filters.
  • Fabricates and installs main and auxiliary wiring harnesses.
  • Installs, interfaces and connects a variety of components such as lights, radios, radar, sonar, heating and air conditioning systems, auxiliary generators, GPS, chart plotters, etc.

 


Requirements
  • Thorough understanding of 12V dc electrical systems, including crimping, soldering and basic trouble shooting using multi meter.
  • Ability to layout, build and install subsystems from schematics, including development of part list ordering parts, assembling components and testing.
  • Understanding of gasoline and/or diesel powerplants, including basic automotive mechanical skills
  • Familiar with general shop safety procedures and operation of hand / pneumatic tools.
  • Understanding of ABYC standards desired.
  • Mil-Spec electrical systems and components experience desired
  • Basic math and measurement capabilities
  • Strong communication skills- both active listening and relaying of information to others
  • Critical Thinking and problem-solving abilities
 

Required Experience & Education:
  • High School Diploma (GED/High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • Three years of experience in a related field or education equivalent
Physical Requirements:
 
  • Lift to 40 lbs.
  • Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Bend, stoop, squat and stretch to complete tasks
  • Must be able to work at heights and/or confined spaces
  • Forklift and scissor lift operations
